Not Shoulding On Myself During My Workout

This morning I was greeted by a beautiful morning mist.

Earlier this year I was training for my 17th half marathon and developed a painful overuse injury. On my 10-mile training run I was in so much pain I limped back to my car, realizing I would not be able to participate in the event.

I’m now working out again, gently. I am doing an eight-week conditioning plan designed for sedentary people. After all, I’ve been sedentary for the past six months.

I am resisting the urge to tell myself I “should” be doing more. Instead, I am following the conditioning plan to the letter. I wanted to walk further today, but I also want to avoid re-injury. I refuse to should on myself. #BecomingShouldless
