Have You Shared a Compliment Today?

At the end of the day people won’t remember what you said or did, they will remember how you made them feel.
— Maya Angelou

Last Friday I had an appointment at the car dealership for routine maintenance. It was my second visit to the dealership’s service department since purchasing my car last year. And just like the first visit, Friday’s was an outstanding customer service experience.

As I got in my car I told the service associate what a great job he did for me. A huge smile came over his face and he puffed out his chest a little bit. I left hoping he had an extra spring in his step for the rest of the day.

We humans can be quick to talk about negative experiences (I raise my hand first about that) but can we also freely compliment positive encounters? I’ve made a commitment to be intentional about catching people in the act of doing great work, and letting them know about it. I think doing so will create contagious positive energy.

Will you join me in the effort?
